Carbon Reduction Finance could be a driver for renewed economic development in the Global South

Carbon Reduction Finance is rapidly approaching the point of international regulation as both public and private sector enterprise seek to actively mitigate their CO2 impact.

Historically this finance has been used to pursue small scale projects with little to no evidence of actual CO2 mitigation.  As the scale of CO2 requiring offset increases, the available finance needs to identify solid projects and enterprises that can demonstrably show real mitigation.  We believe that the markets in sub-Sahara Africa offer a range of real opportunities using leaps in technologies such as mobile money and the development of sustainable infrastructure to really change both human behaviour and environmental impact.

Identifying solid projects, or even developing new projects in such a way that they can provide the robust evidence increasingly required, and at suitable scale, is a challenge for anyone outside of the jurisdiction. This is where Longevity Development come in. Utilising our deep knowledge and networks on the ground, we can provide services for Enterprises or Development partners to help them design programs or identify projects that deliver against increasingly stringent requirements.
